The Altamonte Mall provides Orlando residents and visitors with a strong collection of national retailers, restaurants and entertainment options. Brookfield Properties is unlocking real estate value in this high-performing asset by replacing a Sears Automotive Center and excess parking with two casual dining restaurants at their main entrance. To enhance the customer experience, pedestrian pathways will be designed to connect the new freestanding buildings with the mall. In addition, a regional bike trail and on-site transit stops will connect this center to the community. Brookfield’s long-term master plan calls for residential uses and accommodations for an autonomous bus loop. VHB developed the strategy to navigate the entitlements and design approvals through a challenging local government process. VHB’s integrated services team worked closely with Brookfield and the City of Altamonte Springs, both longstanding clients, to re-energize an already-popular destination.
